Miera was invited to the birthday party of an old acquaintance, Akito Maeda, who was about to become an old man.  There were only a few other party guests, and they quickly clustered around the food, which turned out to be the requisite cake… and pancakes?

I’d like to say ‘why are you all standing around in the kitchen instead of the spacious living room?’ but I’m more disturbed by the terrible lighting in this house…

“DEAR EDNA, YOU ARE NOW MY FAVORITE AUNT…”

Her previous savings combined with what Aunt Edna had given her allowed Miera to extend the front of the house enough to fit a small table and chair, and a reading nook complete with tiny bookshelf.  She bought a dresser in the hopes of filling it soon, hung the adorable cat painting up over the new couch, and bought curtains to decorate her brand new windows.

During the construction, the contractors found termites trying to make a home in her re-purposed wood siding, so she opted to tear it off and go with stucco, and a

fresh

coat of white paint.

She planted the fruits and veggies she got from the Chalet in a few planters around the house, and the flowers she brought home from the Festival were planted around her easel.

While she was out, Miera heard that the Romance Festival was in town, and decided to check it out.  She didn’t meet anyone of interest, but she found a bunch of free fruits and flowers she could take home, and they had free paintings lessons as long as you donated the pictures back to the Festival hosts.  Apparently they were to be part of a raffle at the end of the event.  Miera made her first picture for the donation, and with the new techniques they showed her, she made an adorable kitty painting.

“Now that’s a keeper!”

When she got home, she checked her mailbox and found a letter from her aunt Edna.  She had heard about Miera’s plight and sent her a check for 1,000 simoleons to help her out.

Do you know what that means?

It means she can afford a real living room, and windows

WINDOWS

Woohoo yeah!

A poor night’s sleep and two cups of cheap, Sim-Mart canned coffee later, Miera made her way back to the Chalet to hang out around the chessboard patio and challenge passers-by.

She later made her way to the famous garden only to find that Lady Shallot really was still tending it!

The Lady seemed as surprised as Miera was to see someone else there, and generously gave her permission to harvest a few of the fruits and veggies that Miera did not yet have.

When Caleb came to pick her up, he was very apologetic.  But Miera forgave him quickly and managed to turn it into an inside joke between the two of them.

They went to see The Murder of 1313 21 Chic Street, a surprisingly terrifying performance.

“…I mean, who would have thought it was all a true story!?  I feel sorry for the poor saps that live in that apartment now!”  Miera threw her hands up into the air.  Shaking her head as they reached her front door, she turned to Caleb.  “So… would you like to come inside for coffee?”

Caleb sighed.  “I like you Miera, but… we… I shouldn’t stay long.”

“Why not?”  Already she could feel the loneliness creeping back in.

“I think it’s best if we just stay friends.  If I hang out too long, things will just get awkward, I’m sorry.”

“Oh.”  Yep, there it was, the crushing loneliness was back.

He left almost immediately, and Miera ended up crying it out under her covers in her new bed.  Things had been going so well!

Another addition, this time a proper kitchenette!

And a reference painting she made while at the Chalet.  Adds a touch of color to the drabness.  =)

“Local legend holds that Lady Mimsy Shallot still tends her prize garden, noted for its luscious lemons.”

Once she recovered from her Dance Party head injuries, Miera took a look around the Chalet grounds.  It was beautiful, and huge.  She even found a hidden picnic spot up the hill behind the maze.

But when she finally entered the maze she got lost in it quickly, and had to jump every so often to see if she was going in the right direction.

She’s finally having some fun!  This is great, no dim grimy warehouses, no more stealing cafe food; Miera is finally feeling like she is in control of her life!

But not so much with her dance moves…
