I’m running a test in my alternate save to see what playing a restaurant will take, and who I might want to try it on more permanently in my main save.

But my first evening is not going well.  The host did a medium job, seating four of the six customers who showed up, and the guys (whom I think all came separately) paired off to chat while they waited.

After about four hours, those poor schmucks on the far right are still waiting for their orders, the two by the front are less annoyed but have waited nearly as long.

My chef is still stirring her sauce and scrambling her eggs, waiting for orders.

While my server hasn’t taken any orders since the first table, maybe never took theirs at all, and is now having a heart to heart with the only lady customers in the freaking bathroom.

It’s like some kind of sexist joke or something.

Get Back To Work!

You know that should have been GTW’s real title.  >_>

Rosetta: “Do you want to watch a movie?  College Cram is on EAmazon Prime…”

Emerson: “Sure, I haven’t seen that one yet.  Do you want anything while I’m in the kitchen?”

Rosetta: “Yes, some of that tea please, it smells so amazing!  What is it?”

Emerson: “Just a normal green.”

Jefani laughed as she passed by.  “Your new sense of smell is kicking in.  By the time this pregnancy is over your crazy senses will make you feel like a superhero.  A tired and grumpy superhero, but still!”

That started Rosie wondering about what other changes were coming.  She remembered a few obvious things about her mother’s pregnancy with Mona, but hadn’t really paid much attention to the process.  I should probably ask her a few things when I’m over there later

Jefani gave a little yay! and got up to hug Rosie.

As Derek grinned at the ladies he noted, “I can’t imagine Colby will take this well.”

Emerson frowned.  “Well that’s partly why she’s moving in.  She already told him.”

Ah.  Well we’re happy for you; this was kind of expected, we just thought it would take longer.”  Derek’s smiled turned a little crooked.  “So I guess I’m not getting that bigger art studio now.”

Aw shit, sorry dad, I didn’t even think about that!”

“It’s okay, we’ll figure something out.  Maybe we can take out a loan and put in an addition somewhere, or just bite the bullet and add an upstairs.  We thought about it when we had you, but couldn’t do it at the time.”

Derek leaned closer to Jefani.  “So what’s going on again?”

Jefani sighed.  “I don’t know, I couldn’t get it out of him earlier.  It’s supposed to be good news though.”

Derek: “Oh good, I was thinking it was another butter-a-certain-someone-up party.”

Emerson and Rosie sat down.  Emerson cleared his throat.  “Uh, so Rosie called me and asked me over last night, and we cleared the air on a few things…”  He stopped, unsure of where to start.

They nodded at him to continue.  Jefani was practically vibrating with anticipation.

Rosetta smiled at him.  “Just say it fast, it’s easier, trust me.”

Emerson smiled back.  “Guys, Rosie and I are going to be parents!  And I asked her to move in with us.”

“Hey mom, when dad gets up, I’ve got some kinda big news for you guys.”

Jefani’s interest piqued, she turned to stare at him from over her shoulder.  “Good news?”

“Um, I think so, yes.”  Uh oh.  He really should have just waited.

Jefani set her tea mug down and ever so casually moved to sit down beside him.  “Soooo?”

Emerson took a big bite.

Jefani leaned forward with her hands under her chin, smiling at him.

He swallowed.  “It’s complicated, so I’d really rather wait for dad and tell it once.  No spoilers.”

“Aw, give me a hint at least?  Does it have to do with work?  Rosie?  Do I hear wedding bells maybe?”  She poked him.

He stood firm and kept eating.

She narrowed her eyes and scrunched up her mouth in thought.  “You found out that you were adopted?”

He leaned back and looked at her.  “If I’m adopted, then where did I get this nose?”

Jefani poked him again.  “You’re no fun.”

Colby ran out after her.  “Wait!  Rosie- there you are- you don’t have to leave!  Of course I love you!  It’s just that all the things you want to do, you’ve always jumped in without thinking.  I have to look out for you, that’s what a parent does for their kid!”

Rosetta sighed.  “But I’m not a kid anymore, and soon enough, Mona won’t be either.  Are you going to treat her friends badly to protect her too?”

Colby puffed up, offended.  “I was never mean to your friends!”

She waved her hand.  “Emerson is my friend.  He’s been my best friend since we were little.”

“Okay, granted, but pubescent boys are an entirely different beast.  It’s very easy for them to trick naive young girls into thinking they love them and-”

Rosie threw up her hands.  “We’re done here.  I’m done.”  Colby tried to say more, but she hooked her arm into Emerson’s and marched them out the gate.
